To mark its 60th anniversary, Beatles fans are celebrating the iconic musical-comedy-adventure film, Help!, which first graced screens in the U.K. on July 29, 1965. Starring Paul McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr as themselves, the movie later debuted in the United States on August 11 of the same year.

The film's quirky plot sees The Beatles on the run from a sinister cult that practices human sacrifice. The mayhem begins when Ringo unknowingly puts on a sacred ring, sent to him by a fan, which promptly gets stuck on his finger. This cursed jewelry leads the band on a frantic chase across various picturesque locations, from England to the Swiss Alps and the Bahamas, as they desperately try to evade the cult's clutches. Amidst the comedic chaos, audiences are treated to performances of beloved Beatles tracks like "Help!", "Ticket to Ride", and "You've Got to Hide Your Love Away".

The film reaches its climax with Ringo's capture and impending sacrifice on a beach. In a surprising turn, the ring spontaneously slips off his finger. Ringo cleverly places it on the cult leader's finger, leading to the leader being pursued by his own enraged followers as the memorable song "Help!" plays, bringing the adventure to a humorous close.

Help! was a massive hit with Beatles enthusiasts, lauded for its unique storyline and humor. It also proved to be a commercial success, raking in $12.3 million globally, which translates to an impressive $125 million today.

In honor of this significant anniversary, special screenings of Help! are being held in theaters worldwide. Adding to the excitement, some Beatles fans are speculating that a remixed version of the Help! album might be released to coincide with the celebration.

Help! was the second of five feature films the legendary band made between 1964 and 1970, a cinematic journey that began with A Hard Day's Night (1964) and concluded with Let It Be (1970).
