Paul McCartney was at Liverpool Philharmonic Hall today for the LIPA graduation ceremonies, where he recognized both graduating students and notable figures from the creative arts.
Among those honored as LIPA Companions were the band The Wombats and their manager, all LIPA alumni, alongside actors like James Nesbitt and Adrian Lester, director Sir Sam Mendes, casting director Gay Linvill, and theatre CEO Sita McIntosh.
LIPA’s Principal and CEO Professor Sean McNamara says: “Today is a celebration of creativity, collaboration and possibility.
“As artists, innovators, and leaders who will inspire others through their work, the graduating class of 2025 possesses the skills, the vision and the confidence to influence culture and the world around them. We are immensely proud of them and look forward to seeing the future they create.”
The companionships were awarded for outstanding achievement and contribution to learning at the graduation ceremony of around 420 students from over 30 countries, including Colombia, Hong Kong and India this afternoon.
