PAUL McCARTNEY HONORS JOHN LENNON IN HIS NEW TRACK

Marking his first full-length project since late 2020, Paul McCartney has returned with a fresh album and a lead single dedicated to his late friend, John Lennon.

On Thursday, the 84-year-old music legend revealed that his upcoming LP, The Boys of Dungeon Lane, will arrive on May 29th.

Official statements describe the record as his most personal and reflective work yet.

“The album title, comes from a lyric in the track ‘Days We Left Behind,’” he said of the single and an excerpt of its music video, released along with the news. “I was thinking just that, about the days I left behind and I do often wonder if I’m just writing about the past but then I think how can you write about anything else?”

This latest project, The Boys of Dungeon Lane, presents "unique and evocative windows into memories never before disclosed, paired with newly inspired romantic ballads." Paul detailed the song as "essentially a memory-driven track," intertwining "various snapshots of life in Liverpool," with a "middle section centered on John and... my old neighborhood."

The visual accompaniments, including the lyric and music videos, incorporate archival photography of McCartney’s early years, highlighting his time with John.

The new 14-track album, which McCartney started prepping for in 2021, is his first since December 2020, when he released “McCartney III.”
