Brian Epstein, the Beatles' manager with a passion for theater, devised "The Beatles' Christmas Show," a variety stage production starring the band. It ran for 16 nights at the Astoria Cinema in Finsbury Park, London, concluding on January 11, 1964.
Following the evening's performance, The Beatles, along with the majority of the cast and crew (excluding Rolf Harris and the Barron Knights), chartered a private Viking aircraft, courtesy of Brian Epstein, to fly back to Liverpool for Christmas Day with their families. They returned to London the following morning, Boxing Day.
The group’s repertoire consisted of ‘Roll Over Beethoven’
‘All My Loving’
‘This Boy’
‘I Wanna Be Your Man’
‘She Loves You’
‘Till There Was You’
‘I Want To Hold Your Hand’
‘Money (That’s What I Want)’
‘Twist And Shout’.
The opening acts comprised of the Barron Knights and Duke Diamond, each with a five-minute stage time.
They were followed by brief sets from Tommy Quickly and The Fourmost, with Billy J Kramer and The Dakotas closing the first half.
After the interval, the Barron Knights and Duke D'Mond returned to the stage, followed by Cilla Black and Rolf Harris.
Each evening, The Beatles concluded the show with a 25-minute performance.
