Dhani Harrison is ready to go it alone. Dhani is prepping his first solo album and has booked his debut solo gigs for July. After releasing three full-length albums and two EPs with his group Thenewno2, Dhani has signed a solo deal with BMG Records and is working on an album slated for release later this fall.
"Echoing his influences over the past few years as a composer, Dhani's new music paints a cinematic soundscape," according to a press release announcing the as-yet-untitled album. Dhani's first go-it-alone gig will take place on July 24 at the 350-capacity The Echo club in Los Angeles, followed by a slot at the Panorama Music Festival in New York on July 30.

The 38-year-old Grammy-winning musician -- who has collaborated with everyone from Eric Clapton to the Wu-Tang Clan, Prince, Pearl Jam, Jakob Dylan and Ben Harper and Joseph Arthur in the trio Fistful of Mercy -- has spent the time since the release of Thenewno2's 2013 Beautiful Creatures album composing music for films, including 2014's Learning to Drive, the TV series The Divide, Good Girls Revolt and Outsiders.
