It’s been almost 50 years since the Beatles have graced Texas with their presence and made history.
Next month will have its own page in the history books, as the only
two remaining Beatles will perform their solo acts just a week apart in
honor of the opening of the Tobin Performing Arts Center for the first
time ever in San Antonio.
Paul will perform on Oct. 1 and Ringo on Oct. 7.
On Oct. 3-5, KZEP will have their third annual Rock Art Show at the
Wonderland of the Americas, and this year’s theme is “The Beatles Art
Show and Sale.”
The exhibit will be a visual history of the power group featuring
rare hand signed art work created by The Beatles themselves. There will
also be Beatles fine art, photographs, animation and more on display.
Although the chances of you running into a Beatle at the event are
nonexistent, Ron Campbell, the man behind the animation of Yellow
Submarine, a 1968 British animated musical fantasy, comedy film based on
the music of The Beatles will make an appearance
Campbell also directed the American Beatles television cartoon
featuring misadventures of the popular English rock band of the same
name that aired from 1965 to 1969 on ABC.
He also worked on other iconic cartoons that have been household
names for decades such as Scooby-Doo, The Jetsons, The Flintstones, the
Smurfs and Rugrats.
The exhibit is free and open to the public from 10 a.m. – 9 p.m. with all works of art available for purchase.
