The upstate New York museum at the site of the original Woodstock concert is focusing on the Beatles this summer.
The Bethel Woods Center for the Arts in Sullivan County says it
is joining with the National Council for the Social Studies to present a
series of workshops that will focus on the Beatles and the band’s
impact.
The Beatles did not play at the Woodstock concert at Bethel in
1969, but the Museum at Bethel Woods focuses broadly on 1960s culture.
Workshops next month will explore topics including, “How the
Beatles Became the Beatles,” and “John Lennon and Radical Politics.”
The museum is marking the 50th anniversary of the Beatles’ first trip to the United States.
America Meets the Beatles
Photos of the Fab Four's First U.S. Visit by LIFE photographer Bill Eppridge & Beatlemania Memorabilia from the Rod Mandeville Collection
Please join us as we present two special exhibits in one!
Come see never-seen photographs shot by LIFE photographer Bill Eppridge
as he spent six days photographing the young pop stars during their
first visit to the U.S., and their performances on the Ed Sullivan Show.
The exhibit also features an amazing collection of albums, posters,
figurines, pins, fan club ephemera, and collectibles as it explores the
idea of fan devotion and Beatlemania.
