THE PASSING OF MAUREEN COX

At the age of 48, Maureen "Mo" Starkey Tigrett (born Mary Cox) passed away on December 30, 1994, following complications from leukemia. 

Her death occurred at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle, Washington, after an unsuccessful treatment process. 

 

 

During her illness, her son Zak had provided a bone marrow transplant and subsequently donated blood platelets and white blood cells in an effort to save her.

At the time of her passing, she was surrounded by her four children, her 82-year-old mother, her husband Isaac Tigrett, and her former husband Ringo Starr. 

In tribute to her memory, Paul McCartney composed the song "Little Willow," which was featured on his 1997 solo album Flaming Pie and dedicated to her children.
