MIA McKENNA-BRUCE CAST AS MAUREEN STARKEY IN UPCOMING BEATLES BIOPICS

Sam Mendes’ ambitious series of films focusing on The Beatles has secured another key cast member: Mia McKenna-Bruce will portray Maureen Starkey, who was Ringo Starr's first wife.

McKenna-Bruce, a former recipient of the Bafta ‘Rising Star’ award, is now confirmed to bring Starkey’s life story to the screen, according to a report from Variety.

This announcement follows the news that Saoirse Ronan has been confirmed to play Linda McCartney. McKenna-Bruce's name had been previously associated with the role of Starkey. Additionally, Aimee Lou Wood of The White Lotus fame has been rumored for the part of Pattie Boyd, though this casting remains officially unconfirmed.

Instead of creating a single feature film, Mendes is helming four distinct biopics about The Fab Four, all slated for release in April 2028. Each movie will center on a specific band member, an approach Sony has dubbed “the first binge-able theatrical experience.”

The ensemble cast includes Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney, Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr, Harris Dickinson playing John Lennon, and Joseph Quinn completing the quartet as George Harrison. Last month, Mescal shared that he had met McCartney on “a couple of occasions,” adding, “I’m devoted to him. I think he revolutionized the world.”

Speaking about preparing for the role, Mescal emphasized commitment to detail: “It would just be ludicrous not to play him left-handed, you know?” he noted. “The message would be, ‘Nah. I like [McCartney] quite a bit, but I don’t adore him,’ if I didn’t play left-handed. And I believe he’s the coolest damn person on the planet.”
