Paul McCartney's band, Wings, which he formed in 1971 alongside his wife Linda McCartney and guitarist Denny Laine, enjoyed a highly successful 10-year run.
During this time, the group scored six No.1 hits and released seven studio albums, their most celebrated tracks are being compiled into a new anthology collection.
This career-spanning project will be available on various formats, including vinyl, CD, Blu-ray, and digital. The band's journey was marked by a creative fusion of musical exploration and global chart-topping achievements.
The compilation, which was personally curated by Paul McCartney, will be released on November 7. A press statement describes WINGS “as the ultimate anthology of the band that defined the sound of the 1970s.”
A variety of formats for the new Wings compilation will be available, including a three-LP vinyl set and a two-CD collection, both featuring 32 songs. Fans can also opt for a more concise 12-track version on a single CD or LP, as well as digital downloads.
For an immersive listening experience, a Blu-ray edition will offer all 32 tracks with Dolby Atmos, 5.1 surround, and stereo mixes.
There are also limited-edition vinyl sets in both black and colored vinyl, each including two posters and a sticker sheet. The special colored-vinyl set, with clear, green, and pink LPs, comes with an exclusive litho print.
The album's visuals were a collaboration between Paul McCartney and Aubrey "Po" Powell from the well-known design company Hipgnosis. Powell previously designed seven of the band's album covers.
All physical editions will include a booklet. It features an introduction by McCartney himself, along with detailed notes on the album art by Po and additional content from British rock journalist Peter Paphides.
Throughout its decade-long run until its breakup in 1981, Wings was anchored by its core trio: Paul and Linda McCartney, and Denny Laine. Over the years, the band also included a rotating lineup of talented musicians, such as guitarists Henry McCullough, Jimmy McCulloch, and Laurence Juber, along with drummers Denny Seiwell, Geoff Britton, Joe English, and Steve Holley.
