PRICE OF JOHN´S ISLAND SLASHED BY €100k

After two years on the market, the islands price has been cut to a bargain price of just €200,000.

An island that was once owned by John has had its asking price slashed by a whopping €100k. 

 

Dorinish Island, which is located off the west coast of Ireland, was first listed for sale in 2012 with an original price tag of €300,000. 

After two years on the market, the islands price has been cut to a bargain price of just €200,000. The island is made up of two small islands that are joined together by a natural stone causeway. 

Its new owners will enjoy stunning views of Clare Island to the west, the Inishgort Lighthouse and Nephin Mountains to the north, Croagh Patrick to the south and the Drumlin Islands and Westport Quay to the east. 

John purchased the 19 acre island as a holiday home for his family in 1967 for just over €2000. Estate Agent Aoife Swanton explained that despite being granted planning permission,John choose to live in a caravan instead. “John bought the island at an auction. He then arranged for a wooden ‘gypsy caravan’ painted in psychedelic colours which had been bought for his son Julian’s birthday to be brought from London and floated out to the island on a purpose-built raft as a temporary home,” she told the Irish Sun on Sunday. 

Yoko Ono later sold Dorinish to its current owners in 1984 for €37,800 and donated the proceeds to an Irish orphanage.
