A copy of the John Lennon album 'Double Fantasy' which he signed for his killer, Mark Chapman, is being sold online.
Autographed memorabilia company Moments In Time have confirmed that Chapman's copy of the LP is now available for sale after its current owner, who purchased the record in 2003, decided to part company with it.

Chapman's
copy of the record, which was a collaboration between Lennon and his
wife Yoko Ono and the last record he produced in his lifetime, became
infamous after it was revealed that the Beatles legend had signed a copy
for him just hours before he was shot and killed in 1980. It was found
by a man outside Lennon's home in New York, and later gained notoriety
due to the circulation of pictures that showed Lennon signing the
record's sleeve for Chapman shortly before his death.
According to Moments In Time, the album features Lennon's signature, while its cover and dust jacket contain forensically enhanced fingerprints belonging to Chapman, as the sleeve was submitted to police as a "crucial piece" of evidence against him and later returned to its owner by the District Attorney.

Although the price of the item is currently listed as only "available
upon request", the last time it was on sale it came with a reserve price
of $525,000 (£327, 357). Moments In Time spokesman and agent for the
seller, Bob Zafian, said: "We are very excited to bring such a
historically significant piece to the market. "I have never come across a
piece with such provenance; police reports, fingerprint documentation,
letters from the District Attorney, it goes on and on."
Lennon, who was murdered on this day in 1980, was named as i]NME[/i]'s Ultimate Musical Icon of the last 60 yearsin September. The Beatles' co-frontman topped the poll, which began with 60 nominees in March of this year, beating out the likes of David Bowie, Amy Winehouse, Arctic Monkeys' Alex Turner, Morrissey, Liam Gallagher and Damon Albarn to take the crown.
