"IMAGINE" WILL BE PERFORMED ON THE BELLS OF EXETER CATHEDRAL AND BROADCAST LIVE ONLINE

IMAGINE: A Sound Art Performance – Exeter Cathedral 2011

Commemorating the 10th anniversary of 9/11, a recital of John Lennon’s anti war song ‘Imagine’ will be performed on the bells of Exeter Cathedral and broadcast live online.

Imagine reinvents a British folk art form to serve as a memoriam and encourage reflection upon religious tolerance and world citizenship issues. The recital will inspire further discussion in schools through a social media project produced with DigitalME and the Imperial War Museum.

Commemorating the 10th anniversary of 9/11, a recital of John Lennon’s famous anti war song ‘Imagine’ will be performed on the bells of Exeter Cathedral and broadcast online. By being performed from a place of worship, the recital will raise important questions about religious tolerance and world citizenship in the 21st Century.

‘Imagine infers there should be greater religious tolerance and speaks strongly of the need for peace.’ Cleo Evans (artist)

The recital will also be broadcast live to New York and other worldwide venues for Interdependence Day – an international movement of artists, academics, politicians and faith leaders promoting global interdependence and mutual understanding.

With our educational partner DigitalME, we will reach up to 35,000 young people from UK schools who will look at issues of conflict, religious tolerance and world citizenship.
