Guy Hands may soon be singing The Beatles' Keep Your Hands Off My Baby. Music and private equity groups are circling EMI, the home of Katy Perry and Gorillaz and the Beatles' back catalogue, in the hope of an eventual break-up of the group.
Hartwig Masuch, the chief executive of KKR and Bertelsmann-owned BMG Rights Management, told The Daily Telegraph of his interest in EMI's lucrative music publishing arm. "We don't know what's going to happen, but we know what we'd like to happen...,Of course, we would like music publishing and recording catalogues. EMI`s iconic catalogues are obviously interesting to many."
