RINGO STARR HAILS NEW BEATLES BIOPIC AS "AMAZING"

Ringo Starr recently shared his enthusiastic approval of Sam Mendes' upcoming Beatles film project, calling it "amazing" in an update passed along by his son, Zak Starkey

Zak opened up about his father’s positive take on the production, which features Saltburn star Barry Keoghan stepping into the role of the legendary drummer.

Zak shared: “My dad said that he went to the set and that it was amazing. It really blew him away. He was pretty impressed with what he saw. That’s literally all I know. I’m not involved in Beatle business at all, really.”

Unveiled last March, this ambitious cinematic venture features a star-studded cast including Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney, Harris Dickinson as John Lennon, and Joseph Quinn portraying George Harrison. Spanning four separate feature films, the project is designed to offer an intimate, deep-dive exploration into the life of each individual band member. While introducing this massive undertaking, the Skyfall filmmaker said:

“There had to be a way to tell the epic story for a new generation. I can assure you there is still plenty left to explore, and I think we found a way to do that.”

He also called the rollout “the first binge-able theatrical experience,” as all four movies will hit the big screens on April 7th, 2028.

Starr has been involved in the process thus far, after Mendes consulted the musician on the first draft of the script. Over two days, Starr gave “extensive notes” on Mendes’ work. “He had a writer – very good writer, great reputation, and he wrote it great, but it had nothing to do with Maureen and I,” the 85-year-old shared. “That’s not how we were. I’d say, ‘We would never do that.’”

Keoghan has publicly noted the pressure he feels to get the job right, hailing Starr an “icon.” He shared the story of their meeting, soon after the project was announced, and revealed that Starr played drums for him. “When I was talking to him, I couldn’t look at him,” he recalled of his nerves.
