TONIGHT: THE GRAMMY AWARDS CEREMONY

At the 2025 Grammy Awards, Record of the Year is sure to be a must-see showdown, as is often the case. The category, which is typically thought of as the most prestigious at the ceremony—and thus perhaps the biggest honor in the music industry—is packed with both legends and relative newcomers.

“Now and Then” is nominated for both Record of the Year and Best Rock Performance at the 2025 Grammy Awards.

This year marks the first time The Beatles have been in the running for the latter prize, as many of their career nominations were in non-genre-specific fields, and the vertical didn’t exist when they were still working together–at least not in the form in which it’s presented now.

The Beatles and Beyoncé are nominated against one another this year.

Of course, Beyoncé and The Beatles aren’t competing against only one another. Charli XCX (“360”), Sabrina Carpenter (“Espresso”), Kendrick Lamar (“Not Like Us”), Taylor Swift and Post Malone (“Fortnight”), Chappell Roan (“Good Luck, Babe!”), and Billie Eilish (“Birds of a Feather”) as well.

Beyoncé claims the record for the most nominations among all artists for Record of the Year. She’s been in the running for the honor nine times, but she’s never come out on top. This year, Beyoncé is in the running for her first country smash, “Texas Hold ‘Em,” while The Beatles’ final track “Now and Then” is also a possible winner.

Before The Beatles returned with “Now and Then,” the famous band had been nominated for "I Want to Hold Your Hand," "Yesterday," "Hey Jude," and "Let It Be".

The Beatles—the two remaining members, anyway—have stated that “Now and Then” is the group’s final track, so this is likely the final shot at the gold.
