On Wednesday, city leaders and organizations across the region partnered with the Cincinnati Opera to present its campaign, “Come Together, Cincy! Get Paul to Music Hall!”, a summer-long initiative to celebrate the world stage premiere of “Paul McCartney’s Liverpool Oratorio.”

The production is about the Liverpool native’s memories of growing up in England. It’s also part of an online effort to get the “Band on the Run” singer to visit the city.

Written by McCartney and Carl Davis in 1991 for the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Society, the Cincinnati Opera will be the first company to present his story on a grander scale, with full scenery, costumes, lighting, and choreography, according to Cincinnati Opera’s website.

Officials from Cincinnati Opera said that McCartney endorsed the new opera adaptation in a letter to the company:

"I am writing to express my wholehearted support for this project. I believe that the Cincinnati Opera is uniquely positioned to bring this work to life in a new way, and I have no doubt that your production will be an inspiring experience for all who see it."

“Paul McCartney’s Liverpool Oratorio” will be at Music Hall’s Springer Auditorium on July 18, 20, and 25 at 7:30 p.m.
There are also matinee performances on July 21 and July 27 at 3:00 p.m.
