The loudspeakers and amplifiers that were housed in Abbey Road Studios are up for sale.
This pair of speakers with provenance being purchased from E.M.I.were used in practically every Beatles album: “Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band”, "White Album," and "Abbey Road" as well as Pink Floyd’s “Dark Side of the Moon”.
The auction ends on 22 September, 2023.
The speakers have been partially restored, having been repainted, and refinishing the wheels on the bottom. The original bar on the back has been removed.
One speaker still holds the original tag, reading, “E.M.I. LTD LOUDSPEAKER & AMPLIFIER TYPE RLS IO NO 167 MADE IN ENGLAND”.
These speakers were built in 1962 and remained in Abbey Road Studios until 1972.
Authentication: Letter of Authenticity from Nicholas Butt, Original EMI Tag and a Gotta Have Rock and Roll Certificate of Authenticity.
