A rare piece of Beatles memorabilia, the album art for an unreleased album of songs by the band, will be auctioned off for the first time tomorrow. The album was due to be released in 1984, but was never released.
The album, which was tentatively titled "Sessions" and was to include songs such as "Leave My Kitten Alone," was never released.
The estates of John Lennon and George Harrison objected to the release due to timing clashes, even though the album had already been finalised, along with artwork and press release information.
“This is one of the coolest fab four related items that I have had the pleasure of cataloguing,” said Martin Hughes, music specialist at Wessex Auction Rooms.
“Beatles fans from around the world will be queuing up to bid on this on Friday. We think it could easily make £5,000 to £10,000 on the day,” he added.
The collection also includes an internal EMI Records memo, press releases for the unreleased album, a mock-up sleeve design, and a number of previously unseen photos and transparencies.
