A postcard sent by John Lennon to a Scots fan is up for sale - for a whopping £8000.
Featuring the Beau Vallon Bay Hotel in Seychelles it was sent in 1979 to Scott Moncrieff of Haddington, East Lothian in reply to a letter he’d sent the Imagine singer.
The postcard - dated 22 June 1979, John wrote: “Dear Scott sshhh” and signed it “J, Y and S” next to his iconic self-doodle while on holiday with his wife Yoko Ono and son Sean.
It’s now being sold by owner Greig McArthur, 39, of East Kilbride, who bought it at auction earlier this year for £2,800 plus £1100 in fees.
He said: “For me, memorabilia is an enjoyment to own and are great investments as they only go up in value.
“It’s like a piece of art. I’d love to keep it myself but I can always say I owned it once if it sells.”
Scott had earlier written to Lennon encouraging him to enjoy life and not feel pressured into making more music.
The previous auction description said: “Something in the note clearly struck a chord with Lennon, prompting him to reply.”
Electrical technician Greig said: “There has been some interest. I also got a message from the lady who lived across the street from the gentleman the postcard was written to.
“I know John’s other son Julian buys a lot of items that he used and wore.
“I’m a massive music fan which lead me into collection autographs and memorabilia."
