British musician Brian Cassar, who was part of the band "Cass and the Cassanovas," who are described as being an "early rival of the Beatles," has died at the age of 86, according to published reports.
Cassar was better known in the music industry as Casey Jones, a name under which he led multiple bands.
Cassar passed away in late December in Germany, according to the reports, which came out in the website rocktimes.info, which is published in German.
In addition to Cassar's time with the "Cass and the Cassanovas" group, he also led a group called "Casey Jones and the Engineers," which is known for being one of the first bands of the legendary rocker Eric Clapton. He followed that up by leading the band "Casey Jones and the Governors," which reports state led to fame in Germany, where he ultimately died. He was mostly active in the music scene from the late 1950s through the 1970s.
Cassar's death came on Christmas death, according to Rock Times.
