He's known for his tireless efforts as an animal rights campaigner.
Paul McCartney was spotted visiting a rescue centre with wife Nancy Shevell in East Hampton on Friday.
The couple appeared in high spirits as they wrapped their arms around one another, joined on their visit by a male friend who held his dog on a lead.
Later the animal loving couple stopped to speak to other visitors as they gushed over each other's pooches.
