The work, a small 12 by eight centimetre ink and collage called Orange
Figure, was inherited by a man in Glasgow whose uncle was an avid
Beatles fan and was almost binned.
A rare piece of art by Beatles legend John Lennon found in a drawer in Port Glasgow is to be sold at auction.
The
picture was found in a drawer of a flat in Port Glasgow previously
belonging to John Lennon's bodyguard's mum - and was almost lost in the
house clearance.
The work, a small 12 by eight centimetre ink and
collage called Orange Figure, was inherited by a man in Glasgow whose
uncle was an avid Beatles fan.
The man's uncle left all his collection of records and other ephemera to his nephew.
The
drawing was in Sotheby's Rock and Roll, Film Memorabilia sale in
September 1995 (lot 594) and was originally acquired by the original
vendor from Mal Evans' mother circa 1964 to 1965.
Orange Figure is
going on auction at Great Western Auctions Spring Fine Art &
Antiques Auction this weekend on the 25 and 26 March.
It is expected to sell for between £1000 and £1,500.
