PAUL MCCARTNEY PAID TRIBUTE TO JOHN LENNON ON MONUMENTAL ANNIVERSARY

Paul paid tribute to friend and bandmate, John Lennon, to commemorate the John's iconic album, Imagine.
September 9 2021, marked the 50th anniversary of John's second album, Imagine. The record was released in 1971.
50 years on, Lennon's widow, Yoko Ono, held a listening party on Twitter this week to reflect on Imagine and discuss the album's anniversary.

During the event, Ono posted some memories she had about recording John's album, while also inviting others to do the same.
During the event McCartney posted on his Twitter account in support of the Imagine listening party.

Paul reposted the event while tweeting a music emoji, alongside the hashtag: "#IMAGINE50."
Many of Paul and John's fans replied to the tweet to thank Paul for posting about John.

One wrote: "Very heartwarming. Great to see a tweet from you. Peace to you, your family, and friends."

Ono posted a number of touching memories about John.
She said: "John was a simple Liverpool man right to the end. He was a chameleon, a bit of a chauvinist, but so human."
Ono continued: "In our 14 years together he never stopped trying to improve himself from within.
"We were best friends. To me, he is still alive. Death doesn’t extinguish a spirit like John."

During the event the official John Lennon Twitter account also posted quotes from John about his album.

Speaking candidly about bringing fellow George Harrison on to the record, he said: "George’s best guitar solo to date on How Do You Sleep? is as good as anything I’ve heard from anyone, anywhere. Would you believe that George wasn’t happy with these solos?"
