Philadelphia rock Charlie Gracie turns
80 on Saturday, and will celebrate with an afternoon birthday tribute
show at the Clef Club Theater on South Broad Street.
Gracie's 1956 hit "Fabulous" was an influential early rock and roll
building block, particularly in the UK, where it went to #6 on the
charts and had a major impact on the four Liverpool lads who would later
become The Beatles.
Paul McCartney in particular is a big Gracie fan,
and this week he sent birthday wishes to his old friend via YouTube.
