We’ve had the album on “rinse repeat” here at PaulMcCartney.com HQ, and whilst we are united as a department through our love and familiarity for many of the recordings, which require no introduction, it also became apparent that there are a handful of tracks that are being re-discovered by the team.
So we decided it would be a good time to create a brand new PaulMcCartney.com feature, which we’ve called ‘Sticking Out Of My Back Pocket’ (ten points to Gryffindor if you can name the song that lyric is taken from...) Each article will highlight a “deep cut” song that hasn’t been performed live in the recent past and that we feel has just been casually hanging out of Paul’s back pocket!
The first track, ‘Bip Bop’ - composed by Paul and Linda McCartney - is taken from the 1971 Wings debut, Wild Life.
A version of ‘Bip Bop’ was also recorded in Paul’s garden in Scotland, where he and Linda can be seen jamming together.
Bip Bop’ was first performed live in Nottingham on 9th February 1972, as part of the ‘Wings University' tour. Listen to the full version of ‘Bip Bop’
