Google Cardboard's latest trick is the ability
to whisk users away to Abbey Road Studios, the legendary recording house
The Beatles were so fond of.
The DIY
virtual reality headset does this with the help of a new Android
application, which is basically a VR version of Google's Street
View-powered Inside Abbey Road interactive tour.
It's
a more immersive take on the same experience, combining 150 different
360-degree panoramic images to bring the iconic studio to life.
Users
will be able to tinker around with interactive gadgets, including a J37
4-track recorder, and learn how to cut vinyl during their virtual tour.
They
will be accompanied by audio commentary from Giles Martin, son of the
record producer often called the 'fifth Beatle' Sir George Martin.
The Inside Abbey Road app for Cardboard is available as a free download from Google Play, with an iOS edition coming soon.
