JOHN's POETRY TO BE PERFORMED AT THE EDINBURGH FESTIVAL

In His Own Write to be performed after successful crowdfunding campaign
John Lennon’s poetry will be performed at the Edinburgh Festival after more than £5,000 was raised through a crowdfunding campaign.
Acto Jonathan Glew was granted the rights to former Beatle Lennon’s poetry collection In His Own Write by the Imagine singer’s widow Yoko Ono.
He launched a fundraising drive on website Kickstarter in the hope of raising £5,000 to stage a performance of the Beatle’s poetry at the Edinburgh Festival’s Free Fringe.
A total of £5,423 has now been pledged online and the show, staged by Baldynoggin Productions, will run from August 8 to August 30.
In a message on the Kickstarter site, Jonathan wrote: “I have loved John Lennon’s ‘In His Own Write’ since I first read it 15 years ago and have long dreamt of bringing it to life on stage. “Having been granted the rights to do just that, I undertake this project with a burning passion and absolute commitment.”
In His Own Write was first published in 1964 and consists of short stories, poems and line drawings.
