Paul and his
band will be performing at Robin Hood's annual benefit, to be held May 12 at the Jacob Javits Center in New York City. Robin Hood is New York's
largest poverty-fighting organization and every dollar raised at the
benefit will go to support the most effective poverty-fighting programs
throughout the five boroughs.
Paul is no stranger to Robin Hood. Immediately following the 9/11, he generously donated his legendary talents to the Concert for New York City, which raised more than $36 million to provide direct financial assistance to the families of victims who lost their lives in the terror attacks in New York, Washington, DC,
and Pennsylvania. In addition, the money raised provided emergency
assistance and support, as well as long-term mental health care and
other health services to First Responders, their families and low-income
New Yorkers who lost their jobs as a result of the attacks.
More recently, McCartney headlined the Robin Hood 12-12-12 Concert for Sandy Relief, which raised more than $50 million in one night to help front-line organizations that were helping victims of Hurricane Sandy throughout New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.
"I know that with Robin Hood
100% of the money raised goes right to the organizations helping people
on the edge," said Mr. McCartney. "As an honorary New Yorker, I'm proud
to help Robin Hood continue their efforts to help the neediest people
get the support and tools they need to build better lives for themselves
and their families."
"All of us at Robin Hood are honored to have Paul perform at our Benefit," said David Saltzman,
executive director of Robin Hood. We know from past experience he will
blow the doors off the Javits Center with a musical performance that
should not be missed; we continue to be overwhelmed by Paul's generosity
of spirit and his willingness to use his incredible talents to aid New
Yorkers in need."
