MEMORIAL TO BRIAN EPSTEIN TO BE UNVEILED ON RODNEY STREET

Brian with John, 1964

A plaque will be unveiled at the birthplace of Beatles’ manager Brian Epstein tomorrow.
The memorial will be unveiled at 4 Rodney Street, where Epstein was born in 1934.
Marie Darwin, who started the campaign for the plaque, said: “I had the idea a couple of years ago.

“There’s so much recognition for the four boys and I used to walk past the building and think it would be great to have something there as recognition for him.”

The building is now owned by Liverpool John Moores University.

Marie said: “We originally wanted to unveil it last September, as that would have been his 80th birthday, but we couldn’t get it organised for then.
“We’ve now realised that Sunday will be the date the Beatles went to number one with Please Please Me in 1963.”
Epstein famously discovered the Beatles at the Cavern Club in 1961.
