THE BEATLES RECALL THEIR ONE MEETING WITH ELVIS PRESLEY

"Elvis is my man," Paul McCartney said. "He was a big influence on the Beatles and he just was great."

The other Beatles largely agreed, as you can see in this video, which is excerpted from "The Beatles Anthology." Paul, George Harrison and Ringo Starr all sound giddy about having met Presley, a key Fab Four inspiration and a game-changing influence on an entire generation of young rock fans in the 1950s and beyond.

To hear the late Harrison tell it, The Beatles were pretty stoned when they got together with Presley in August 1965 at Presley's mansion near Beverly Hills. (The next day saw The Beatles give the only San Diego concert performance of their career at Balboa Stadium.)

John recalls that the Fab Four jammed with Presley, an event his former band mates laughingly dispute. As for the rest of their meeting with Presley, who performed in San Diego at least three times
