“Ladies and Gentlemen...The Beatles” will open in the Woody Guthrie Center Feb. 4. The exhibit examines the band’s social impact and its influence on music and culture with artifacts, photos, videos and more.
Deana
McCloud, executive director of the center, said the exhibit fits with
the center’s goal of discussing society and culture through music.
“One
of our primary goals at the Woody Guthrie Center is to show how musical
influences defy the boundaries of time and change our world,” McCloud
said. “Like Woody, the Beatles were the voice of their generation
through their music. We are proud to have this fabulous exhibit in our
special exhibit gallery so that we may share it with Tulsa and our
visitors who want to experience it.”
The
exhibit is the latest benefit the center has received since being named
the first museum affiliate partner of the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles.
That partnership helped the center land the exhibit early in its tour
across the country. The museum has featured a photographic exhibit of
Bruce Springsteen as the first special feature thanks to the new partnership. That exhibit will close Saturday, Jan. 17.
A
special opening reception is set for Feb. 3 at the center for members
and donors. Memberships to the center, which provide access to events at
the center throughout the year, are available for $50.
