While Insider has been frantically Christmas shopping, Formby-born
composer and conductor Ben Foster has been busy with more enviable lofty
challenges ... like working on Paul’s new single, and on
the Dr Who Christmas special for instance.
The ex-Formby High lad,
now living in London, was invited by Macca to arrange and conduct Hope
for the Future, the song he wrote and recorded for Activision’s
massively successful video game Destiny.
He is releasing four
remixes of the track and, thanks to the wonders of technology, appears
in the 28th-century game universe as a hologram—serenading various
Guardians via projection from a Ghost AI assistant.
The project
was the latest entry in a packed diary for Ben, who just days earlier
conducted his 10th Doctor Who Christmas Special – due for screening on
BBC1 on Christmas Day – with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales.
He has also been working on a joint TV job with his brother Nick which promises to attract plenty of attention in the new year. The pair have been brought in to compose music for a TV revival of the Gerry Anderson animation Thunderbirds.
