The Beatles in Ireland.
Dublin Beatles Festival to kick off next week |
The festival
runs until Sunday, 9 November across the city centre with top Irish and
international bands, art, film, merchandise and an exclusive Irish
appearance by Monty Python’s Neil Innes.
Cultural icon Neil Innes is best known for his collaborative work
with Monty Python, The Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band and The Rutles – the
affectionate parody band inspired by The Beatles in which he played Ron
Nasty, loosely based on John Lennon.
Known as ‘The Seventh
Python’, he performed on screen and stage with them, co-wrote the songs
for Monty Python and the Holy Grail, and featured in that film, as well
as appearing in The Life of Brian.
Innes will be in conversation with Tom Dunne at the Twisted Pepper on 9 November at 5pm and will also perform an acoustic set of some of his most popular songs.
