THE BEATLES MUSEUM IN NETHERLANDS

The Beatles Museum in Alkmaar is a museum about the legendary Beatles. The museum was first located in Krommenie and was founded on June 6th in 1981. It was the first Beatles museum in the entire world. After some moving around and being temporarily closed the museum is now opened at the Kanaalkade in Alkmaar. The museum has numerous items on the group and their members John, Paul,George and Ringo.

Besides the museum itself there is also a shop where you can find books about The Beatle’s and there is also a part called the Collector’s Paradise where you’ll find all kind of collector’s items for sale. Because of this shop and the income it generates the museum can keep it’s entrance fee as low as 2.50 euro per person. The shop often gets items donated from fans and friends.

Although the Beatles played Amsterdam in 1964, they never visited Alkmaar, and the Dutch connection is vague at best: there was that trip to the Amsterdam Hilton for the bed-in for Peace by Lennon immortalised in “The Ballad of John and Yoko”, but that’s about it.* The rumour that one of Revolver’s best loved songs began as “Gouda Get You Into My Life” is almost certainly a false one.
Visitor information
The museum is opened from Tuesday till Saturday from 11am to 4:30pm and is located at Kanaalkade 48 in Alkmaar.
