SINGER-SONGWRITER LYNSEY DE PAUL DIES

The singer-songwriter Lynsey de Paul, who was the first woman to win an Ivor Novello award, has died at the age of 64. 

De Paul suffered a brain haemorrhage yesterday morning and died in hospital in London. 

She burst into the charts with Sugar Me, which reached number 5 in 1972, and had four more top 20 singles and represented Britain in the 1977 Eurovision Song Contest with Rock Bottom


Lynsey De Paul never married but was romantically linked to a string of well-known men including Sean Connery, Dudley Moore and Ringo Starr.
