Sean was met with a mixed reaction when he called for Scotland to stay with England at his latest gig.
Sean, the only child of John and Yoko Ono, was playing with his band Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger at Broadcast bar in Glasgow when he shared his views on the upcoming independence referendum.
During a break in his set, the 38-year-old said: “Scotland is a
beautiful country but is better sticking together. But I won’t hold it
against anyone wanting to vote.”
As the crowd both cheered and booed, Sean also told the crowd he was
planning to do a further tour of Scotland and had been inspired by his
brother Julian Lennon to do so.
Sean said: “My brother Julian presented me one Christmas with a
poster of our family tree and I found out I had a lot of Scottish
ancestors.”
Beatle’s legend John Lennon shared his boyhood holidays with cousins
at Sangomore in Durness and even has a memorial garden there.
Before his gig Sean managed to explore some of Scotland’s beauty and
had even posted an Instagram pic of himself in front of the rolling
hills along with the message: “Scotland please don’t leave england!
You’re too pretty!” He has since deleted the message.
He also noted that Alloa brewed beer Midnight Sun had the same title
of his new album and said: “Okay, now I’m freaking out! WTF???? This is
our record title I hope some of you know, and it’s a local stout from
Glasgow. Anyone know these guys? We’re down for sponsorship!
