MEET THE BEATLES JAPAN BOX
Upcoming boxed set of Beatles Japanese albums on CD will be available on 6/ 25.
Capitol Records has just announced that they will be releasing the Fab Four’s five original Japanese albums in a brand new mini-LP box set. As with the U.S. albums before them, these new records will all be sourced from the group’s approved 2009 remasters. The new set also comes with a 100-page booklet and assorted memorabilia re-creations.
This new box marks the first time that these releases will ever be set to CD and according to the press release, they “faithfully replicates the original Japanese album artwork, including OBI and inner sleeve.” The five discs as included are, ‘Meet the Beatles!,’ ‘The Beatles’ Second Album,’ ‘A Hard Day’s Night,’ ‘Beatles No.5’ and ‘Help!’ The first two discs come in mono, while the latter records are presented in stereo.
‘A Hard Day’s Night’ and ‘Help!’ are identical in the track listing to their U.K. counterparts, but feature different artwork. The other three appear to be the same as their similarly named U.S. albums (with ‘Beatles No. 5′ taking the cover of ‘Beatles ’65′), the song selections are very different and seemingly every bit as randomly compiled. See below for the complete track listings of all five albums.
The new set is available for pre-order now and hits the shelves in the U.S. on July 15.
