Paul at Missoula, competition for the 25,000 seats will likely be fierce, and event sponsors are advising buyers to beware.
“We can tell people till we’re blue in the face, but if you buy from a secondary market, there’s no guarantee it’s a legit ticket,” said Brad Murphy, executive director of the Adams Center. “It may not be a real ticket.”
Tickets for the concert – part of McCartney’s “Out There” tour – don’t go on sale until Friday, May 9. But Murphy said questionable tickets are currently being offered by secondary vendors.
If tickets aren’t purchased through a GrizTix outlet, he said, they may not get concert-goers through the door, and they may deprive those holding a legitimate ticket of their seat.
“We haven’t sold a single ticket,” Murphy said. “They’re not even available yet.”
The University of Montana announced Monday that McCartney added a performance in Missoula on Aug. 5 between concerts in Minneapolis and Salt Lake City.
Interest in the concert has been high, Murphy said, and competition for tickets will likely be steep. Until the tickets go on the market at 10 a.m. next Friday, the university is advising buyers to use caution.

“We’re getting all kinds of calls,” Murphy said. “I can’t imagine what next week’s going to be like.”
