RINGO, JOE WALSH FEATURED ON UPCOMING ALBUM BY KENNY WAYNE SHEPHERD BAND

Ringo and Joe Walsh are among the big-name guest stars who lent their talents to blues rockers The Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band‘s upcoming studio album, Goin’ Home, which will be released on May 20.  The 12-track collection features new renditions of songs made popular by such blues greats as Muddy Waters, Willie Dixon, B.B. King, Albert King, Freddie King, Buddy Guy, and Stevie Ray Vaughan.
Other artists who appear on the record include Allman Brothers Band guitarist Warren Haynes, Fabulous Thunderbirds frontman Kim Wilson, Keb’ Mo’, Robert Randolph and The Rebirth Brass BandGoin’ Home is first album Kenny Wayne Shepherd has recorded in his hometown of Shreveport, Louisiana, a process that took just 11 days.
“This is a homecoming in more ways than one,” explains Shepherd, who’s also a member of Stephen Stills‘s blues-rock supergroup, The Rides. “I felt like I was retracing my steps and reliving all the good times that I’ve had in my life because of this music.  And hopefully, that amount of happiness comes through on the album.”
Kenny says when he was deciding what tunes to include on the album, “I dug through tons and tons of songs and artists’ catalogues, trying to find songs that I thought would be right for this record.  That brought back all these distinct memories of sitting in the living room in front of the record player and cassette deck as a kid and learning how to play this material.”
Ringo played drums on a version on “Cut You Loose,” a song previously recorded Guy and Junior Wells, while Joe Walsh’s guitar can be heard on a rendition of Dixon’s “I Live the Life I Love.”  You can preview here:
