Alfred Haber, Inc. (AHI) has licensed the CBS special The Beatles:
The Night That Changed America—A Grammy Salute, which aired in the U.S.
over the weekend, to broadcasters around the globe.
The Beatles: The Night That Changed America—A Grammy Salute has been
picked up by Canal+'s D8/17 in France, WOWOW in Japan, Televisa in
Mexico, Rogers Media in Canada and Foxtel in Australia. It is also
headed to TVNZ in New Zealand, NTR in the Netherlands, SVT in Sweden, TV
Romania and Net Media in Indonesia.
The two-and-a-half-hour production commemorates the 50th anniversary of
the first time The Beatles performed in the U.S. It features
performances by a number of artists, including a reunion with Beatles'
alums Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr. The international rights for the
special were recently acquired by AHI.
"The Beatles' first appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show is one
of the most watched television events ever—with 74 million people tuning
in to watch the group perform five songs during the variety hour," said
Alfred Haber, the president of AHI. "This special celebrates the
remarkable legacy of the seven-time Grammy-winning group with
extraordinary performances by music's top talent, and we are delighted
with the immediate response we have received from our broadcasters the
world over."
