A set of Beatles autographs, featuring all of the Fab Four, will
go under the hammer at a Wareham auction next month, it has been
announced.
The autographs, collected by a fan after the band performed on the
Thank Your Lucky Stars television show in 1963, will form part of a sale
at Cottees Auctions.
Signed Beatles photographs containing all four members have sold for
thousands of pounds at auction, as they remain the most sought-after
items of Beatles memorabilia.
Auctioneer John Condie said: “The autographs are contained in a personal scrapbook compiled at the time.

“Together with the set of autographs are two publicity photographs of
the group at Thank Your Lucky Stars, a fan club autographed card and
various black and white publicity cards which will be offered at the
same time.”
The sale will also include autographs of other personalities including
Mother Teresa, the Rolling Stones, Lord Mountbatten, Alf Ramsey, Bobby
Moore and Marlene Dietrich.
The unnamed woman offering the Beatles autographs, who was a
16-year-old schoolgirl when she met the stars, recalled: “I had my
scrapbook and went to John for his signature first, then George, Ringo
and Paul, who was the only one who tried to put me at ease.
“He smiled and said ‘that’s a big one’ (the scrapbook).
“The scrapbook has been my pride and joy for many years. A friend gave
me a second set of autographs from the official Beatles fan club that
were signed by Neil Aspinall – the road manager who died a few years
ago.
“I’m often asked who was my favourite Beatle. Back then it was John,
but because I had three friends who were Beatles-mad, we decided we had
to take one each and I was allotted Ringo.
“Now I would undoubtedly choose George.”
The Cottees auction takes place on November 12.
