PAUL THRILLS FANS AT WINNIPEG CONCERT/PAUL PRESENTED WITH KEY TO THE CITY

Paul on stage in Winnipeg, Beatles legend McCartney's show in Winnipeg sold out.

Thousands of Paul fans packed Winnipeg's Investors Group Field on Monday night to see the former Beatle in his first performance in the Manitoba capital in 20 years. Just before the sold-out concert began, Mayor Sam Katz presented McCartney with the Key to the City."We are thrilled to present Sir Paul with the Key to the City," Katz stated in a news release Monday evening."Not only have his songs touched generations of music fans, his many years of working with charitable organizations has set a tremendous example of caring and humanity for us all."

4. Earlier on Monday, fans were getting ready for the concert at the new stadium. Some gathered outside the Fairmont Hotel in downtown Winnipeg,in the hopes of catching a glimpse of Paul.

7. The gates were scheduled to open at 6 p.m., two hours before the concert was slated to begin, but late-running sound check forced fans to wait outside the stadium until at least 6:30 p.m.
