ROCKSHOW HEADED TO A THEATER NEAR YOU

Concert movie with Paul and his first post-Fab Four band to begin multiple screenings in San Diego, starting next week

This is a May 24, 1976 file photo of  Paul with Linda, as they perform in the band Wings, at Madison Square Garden, New York. "Rockshow," the 1980 concert film of Wings' 1975 and '76 world tour, is being re-released and will be shown in four San Diego County theaters (and one in Temecula), starting May 21.
Paul McCartney and Wings are returning to San Diego, where they last performed in 1976 at what is now Valley View Casino Center -- at least in a manner.
No, McCartney isn't reuniting with Wings, which would be impossible since two of its members are sadly deceased (specifically, his former wife, keyboardist/backing singer Linda McCartney, and lead guitarist Jimmy McCulloch).
And, no, McCartney and his current band haven't added a San Diego date to their 2013 "Out There" world tour, which currently is scheduled to come no closer to here than a stop at the Outside Lands festival in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park the weekend of Aug. 9-11. (McCartney, inexplicably, has not performed in public in San Diego since that 1976 show with Wings.)
However, in conjunction with the re-release of McCartney and his former band's 1976 live triple-album, "Wings Over America," the group will be appearing here multiple times on the big screen, starting next week. They will do so in the form of "Rockshow," the concert movie filmed during Wings' 1975 and 1976 world tour.

Paul McCartney and Wings movie trailer

The 141-minute film had a limited theatrical release in 1980. The revamped version includes a newly added 12 minute interview with McCartney, who first toured with Wings in 1972, following the demise of his previous band, The Beatles."Rockshow" will screen three times over the next four months in at least four San Diego County theaters.
The film will be shown at 7 p.m. at Digiplex Poway on May 21, June 13 and Aug. 12; and at Digiplex Hazard Center in Mission Valley, Digiplex Mission Marketplace in Oceanside and Digiplex River Village in Bonsall on May 22, June 13 and Aug. 12.
The film will be screened at Digiplex Temecula Tower Cinemas on May 22, June 13 and Aug. 12 It will also be shown in 695 other cities around the world, with the premiere scheduled for Wednesday in London, where McCartney is scheduled to attend. (Why no San Diego screenings in July? Why ask why?)
"Rockshow" will be released for the first time in DVD and Blu-Ray on June 10. Below is a list of the songs featured in the film and on the album, which will be re-released May 27 in standard edition form and in a deluxe box set package.
Now, please, please, us, Sir Paul, and add that long-overdue San Diego concert date to your tour itinerary. After all, if you can play two dates this time around in Tulsa, surely, you can do at least one here.
