After 20 years without a tour date in Winnipeg, Paul McCartney is heading back to the river city.
The ex-Beatle announced via Twitter he will be playing the Investors Group Field in Winnipeg this summer as part of his Out There tour.
Concert promoters teased a “historic” concert planned for the Investors Group Field to be announced Monday at 11 a.m. but were scooped by McCartney’s official Twitter account.
The tweet read, “Paul has just added a date at the Investors Group Field in Winnipeg to his #OutThere tour! Details at PaulMcCartney.com.”
McCartney will play the field on Aug. 12 according to his website.
The last time McCartney played in Winnipeg was in May 1993 at Winnipeg Stadium.
