Paul is the mystery star who will perform a “smashing” concert in June at the Barclays Center.
Atlantic Avenue is now Abbey Road!
Paul will perform at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on June 8 and 10, the venue announced with great fanfare Thursday.
Flanked by half a dozen actors decked out as Buckingham Palace guards,
British red phone booths and Union Jack flags in the arena’s Daily News
Plaza, Borough President Marty Markowitz trumpeted, “Bravo to Paul McCartney for bringing the British invasion to Brooklyn.”
The former Beatle’s concerts are part of his 2013 “Out There” tour, and
mark McCartney’s first New York City gig since last year’s 12-12-12
benefit concert. McCartney also played concerts in Yankee Stadium in
2011 and Citi Field in 2009.
It’s the latest coup for the Barclays Center, which in a few short
months has lured a who’s who of music megastars to challenge the
dominance of Madison Square Garden. In the past few months, Beyonce,
Rihanna, Bruno Mars, Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez have all announced
performances at the home of the Nets.
“Finally, finally, an artist whose music I actually know,” quipped Markowitz of McCartney, who was not on hand for the publicity stunt.

American Express card members will get a headstart, with tickets
