Stella McCartney has been honoured at PETA's first ever Vegan Fashion Awards for her environmentally-friendly shoe designs.
Vivienne Westwood was also handed a prize at the ceremony, which comes after the animal rights group's criticism of Beyonce at the Super Bowl.
Sadie Frost and socialite Meg Matthews were among the judges, with Frost saying: "My two greatest passions are fashion and helping animals, so I was thrilled when PETA asked me to help judge their fashion awards.
"It's phenomenal how many retailers and top designers are using pleather, micro-suede and faux cashmere in their collections, and the quality is amazing. The new fabrics are kinder not only to animals but also to the environment."
Destiny's Child star Beyonce incurred the wrath of PETA when she was seen in a Rubin Singer bodysuit made of python, iguana and cow skin for her much-lauded performance on Sunday (February 4).
A spokesperson for the company told the New York Daily News: "We would take a bet that if Beyoncé watched our video exposés, she'd probably not want to be seen again in anything made of snakes, lizards, rabbits or other animals who died painfully.
"Today's fashions are trending toward humane vegan options, and Beyoncé's Super Bowl outfit missed the mark on that score."
