Last night at Stella McCartney’s pre-fall presentation, held at the
Americas Society Park Avenue townhouse, models stood about in
color-blocked outfits while artists painted their likenesses on canvases
nearby. Hanne Gaby Odiele looked content, lounging on a chaise as her
portrait was done. “The shoes are actually a little small for me, so I
was really happy to sit down,” she said, sipping Champagne and taking a
tiny grilled cheese from a passing tray.
Other models, wearing smart
glasses from McCartney’s new eyewear collection, played Scrabble beside a
candle-filled fireplace. Guest Jeff Koons was charmed by the whole
scene, which also included a ceiling full of pink mylar balloons, a
piano player, and a Champagne pyramid.
“I’m not a fashionista,” said the
artist, as editors like Anna Wintour, Cathy Horyn, and Robbie Myers
assessed the collection. “But I enjoy fashion.” Meanwhile, the Seinfelds discussed white sneakers, McCartney talked about her OBE, and the Chandlers traded earrings.
