RINGO SPEAKS TO RED SYMONS ON 774 ABC MELBOURNE BREAKFAST (AUDIO)

More than fifty years ago Ringo Starr started drumming in a band while he was working at a factory.
Similarly, in more recent years he has started making art while touring with his band.
Ringo says he started making art as something to do during downtime while on tour
"On one of the tours of the All Stars I was just doodling on the computer," says Ringo.
"I started getting these faces, these heads, and I ended up calling them my people, and that's how it started," he says. "Now we're even printing them on drum heads."
All of the proceeds from sales of his art go to the Lotus Foundation, the charity he formed with wife Barbara Bach.
Ringo Starr and the All Starr Band are touring Australia in February, including shows at Melbourne's Festival Hall on February 16 and 17.
While he is in Melbourne Ringo will be attending an exhibtion of his work at Silver K Gallery in Armidale.
