There are family reunions, and then there are “family reunions” with your friends George, Paul, Ringo and John. The latter is something like a surrogate family — a relationship through lyrics and song, at times spanning the 47 years since the Fab Four arrived in the United States and began a musical revolution.
It will be a veritable sea of all things Fab Four at the Fest for Beatles Fans at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare in Rosemont.
When the annual Fest for Beatles Fans returns to the Chicago area Aug. 5-7, Beatles lovers will flock to the Hyatt Regency O’Hare hotel in Rosemont to see old friends, make new ones and celebrate the band that changed music forever.
“For me, it’s like summer camp for Beatles fans and I feel like the camp counselor,” says Terri Hemmert, host of WXRT radio’s “Breakfast with the Beatles” and Chicago’s Fest for Beatles Fans emcee for the last 34 years.
Celebrating its 35th anniversary, the festival will feature a slew of Beatles-centric activities. A ’60s dance party, a memorabilia marketplace and auction, impromptu sing-alongs, a sound-alike contest, a Beatles recording studio and a trivia contest, among others, will be featured.
